Notes

1. Any message sent to the list will be copied to all members. Don't click on "Reply" unless your message is of interest to everyone. If you simply want to thank someone personally, reply to their email address only, which will be in the "From" field of the message.

2. To maximise privacy, messages are not archived on the server. If you want to keep your own archive, that's OK. In fact it's recommended because there's always something that wasn't of interest at the time - but now you need to look it up! (Actually, another reason is that I don't want to pay for extra server space. This list is free and I'd like it to remain that way).

3. The default mode is that you will receive every separate message sent to the list. It's recommended that you create a folder called "MailTalk" and set up a rule to dump all incoming messages, with "[MailTalk]" in the subject line, into that folder. You may also change your subscription to "digest" mode, which will concatenate all messages and send you one long message no more often than once daily.

4. Because some members are on "digest" mode, please follow the normal guidelines and avoid "top posting".

5. Messages should use plain text only. HTML messages will be reduced to plain text and attachments will be stripped and discarded.

6. Off-topic posts will be tolerated to a level determined by the membership.

7. Posts should be in English and reasonable care should be taken to avoid mistakes and ambiguities which could mislead or confuse someone asking for help.

8. If you go on holiday please make sure that your email program is not sending holiday messages in reply to posts from the group members! If this happens, Admin will have to unsubscribe you manually.

9. When you post a question, please ensure that you tell us which version of Mail you are using and also give relevant details of your Mac hardware and of any peripherals (e.g. router or modem) which might be involved. If you omit important details, you'll wait longer for a solution because members will have to interrogate you.

10. Please send questions from the email account you used to sign up. If this is impossible, use the secret form instead and type your sign-up email address in there.
